August 28, 1963 about 200,000 people marched through DC. It was an event that called attention to the discrimination and segregation of African Americans. A quarter million people waved signs and listened to many speakers addressing the civil rights issues of the United States. The last speaker of the March was Dr. Martin Luther King Junior. This is when he gave his famous "I have a Dream" speech.http://kingencyclopedia.stanford.edu/encyclopedia/encyclopedia/enc_march_on_washington_for_jobs_and_freedom/
