Plessy:

• Conflicted w/ 13th+14th amendment

• 13th- Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

• 14th- was not technically treating the races differently, but just

• keeping them separate.

• Equal Protection Clause

• Separate but Equal

• It was a state law and he violated it

• Plessy = ⅛ african american

• Plessy intenionally broke the law to challenge the jim crow laws

• Anti-miscegenation laws
